The Happy Workplace
The Happy Workplace is itself a small business, formed and operated by Akashi (full legal name Ak Ashi), who has significant experience working within many small businesses and using counselling and mediation skills to resolve issues as appropriate if they arise.

She shares knowledge, experience and simple skills to transform the way we each understand (and therefore interact) with each other, especially when feeling under stress. This helps to create effective working relationships that show respect and consideration, lift the 'vibe' higher and keep it there for the long-term.

Akashi presents highly effective ways to resolve upset within ourselves, our lives and with others. Everything she teaches she has experienced herself, so she knows her methods and approach is practical and effective.

Akashi's Background
Born in England in the 1960's, Akashi qualified as a dental surgeon at King’s College London at age 24. She emigrated to Australia in 2001 with her 3 children and worked as a dental surgeon in a private practice in Armidale, NSW.

In 2003 she trained and then worked as a volunteer telephone counsellor for Lifeline. After several years, Lifeline financed her place at the University of New England to qualify as a teacher in the adult education sector, after which she was employed 2 evenings a week by Lifeline as a facilitator and supervisor of the training in Armidale, supporting and mentoring the volunteers in their role as crisis counsellors.
After a huge personal crisis Akashi left dentistry and moved further in this new direction as a counsellor and teacher.
Akashi trained with the Dept of Attorney General and Justice to become a Youth Justice Conference Convenor within the Dept of Juvenile Justice.

This is a mediatory role where a young offender and the victim of their offence are brought together, encouraged to talk about the offence and explore the reasons why it happened.
The desired outcome is greater understanding for all involved of the other's perspective and agreement on an appropriate recompense for the victim.
Although Akashi now works in a different way, it was her experience as a Conference Convenor that helped her realise she has an intuitive ability and great passion to work with people experiencing conflict.

In 2015, she obtained a Diploma in general counselling at the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors and started face-to-face counselling in the community.
Akashi also works privately with individuals around the world who wish to accelerate their personal growth through transformational healing via her website soaringhighwithlove.com
